How do you remove the automatic park brake cable on a 62 Valiant (904 tranny)?

My car seems to be 'locked' in park, but sometimes after opetating the park lever a few times it unlocks.

Thanks

I seem to have fixed the problem.

I moved the Park lock lever to push the inner cable to its fullest forward movement.

I inserted the the park lock cable into the transmission cable housing at the same time as inserting a screw driver into the round hole on the underside of the transmission cable housing to prevent the movement of the slide bolt that engages and locks the park break sprag.

The inner cable locked to the slide bolt spring and I then withdrew the inner cable until resistance was felt from the spring.

Park now seems to work correctly as I move the lever to lock and unlock positions.

Da da!

Brilliant !!!

Now that you mention it... I may have had to do that as well.

That is why it's important to post what tricks you discover.

Thanks.
