Is the Offenhauser 5270LK single 4bbl intake worthwhile? I don't really want to spend the cash on one of the Aussie intakes (and shipping).
This would be primarily for drag racing.

If you are doing it just for drag racing, go with a Clifford. The Clifford have a larger runner crosssection and flow a bit better than the Offy.

Agreed. You will be looking at Clifford shorty manifold, and headers.

Offy is fine for the street, or mild street strip vehicle.

How fast are you wanting to go?

I'm a Mopar guy...too fast is not enough.

If you are trying to build a 14 second car you can live with an Offy quite well. Any faster than that get a Clifford.

Remember, he's racing a '65 Belvedere...so he's a bit bigger and heavier than even a late A-body...to push it into the 14's without an adder, he needs all the help he can get... he should be pursuing the clifford intake, headers and a Jeffries head, if he's serious about being race only.

Race weight will be just over 3200 lbs (with driver). I have a set of Clifford headers and a ported big valve head. Compression ration comes in at 10.6 with thick head gasket, right at 11:1 with a thin steel one. I have two different cams, biggest one yields .474-I/.494-E at the valve. Still debating the converter, but am leaning towards a 2500-2700 stall for a race built, manual valve body 904 (75 vintage). I have 3.55 gears in it but have a set of 3.91 on standby (both sure-grips). Currently setting up a twin 2bbl intake but feel a single 4bbl may give better results.
I am aiming for the D/G record so I'll need to best 14.1@97mph to set that. (Unless that has changed)

I can't sneak anything past you guys....
14 weeks to the Mason-Dixon race, oof!

At 3200# you'll need more cam and converter, and 3.91 gears at least. 14.99 is easy, 14.1 is expensive. :D

I don't think anything is easy with only 225 cubes. I managed to get my 4200 lb (+ driver) 65 Fury to run low 12's in the quarter but that was with twice as many cubic inches.
It's good to have a goal in mind.
If it was easy, everyone would be doing it.

I have done it. It's not hard, just expensive, and it's not a good retirement plan.

Easy is for bums. The challenge is the fun way.

Clifford 4 bbl is your best bet.
