Looks like a 72-73 head with number 3614850-1.
I just thought maybe a noticeable difference outside the valve train. Didn't really want to pull the cover.

How do you tell if you have the early head that needs the spark plug washer vs the 63+ head that doesn't use the crush washer. Thanks |

See if you can find a casting date on the head -- probably under the valve cover. |

Well, keen, a '72-'73 head is nicer than a '62 or '63 head. AFAIK, there's no external (outside the valve cover) clue to discern a '62 from a '63 head. |

What makes the 72 head better than the 60 head? Does it have better chamber shape or something? |

Yep, better combustion chamber shape starting in '67 for more complete combustion. |
