Hello all, looking for a recommendation on a torque converter behind a 325HP+ /6. My Clifford 268 mechanical cam is rated for ~1800 stall speed. Will a stock converter in front of a built up A904 with a reverse pattern manual shift kit installed stand up? |

Is this a turbo motor? If not, a 268 cam will never make 325HP. Stock converter would not hold up or use the engine power band well either. Call Edge Racing or Midwest Converters and tell them about your car. To go fast and have pretty good streetability, get a 2800-3000 stall. If you really have a high RPM motor, get 3500-4000 RPM. BTW, Clifford does not know anything at this point about Slant 6s or how to make them fast. They sell good manifolds and headers that were designed 30 yrs ago - that's it. Best, Lou |

This is a twin turbo\fuel injected motor I am building. The 268 cam was from what I saw highly recommended. I hope I didn't make a mistake there. |

A stock converter will live at lower boost. A little higher stall will help you spool faster I believe. However, if you intend to race it you will want a decent converter with an anti balloon plate on it because if you hook it up good you will really abuse the converter. |

OK, that cam should work fine with boost, although may be a bit high RPM heavy. 325 HP is not too hard to make with a sensible and not wild turbo setup. Dennis has it right on the converter. I would go with one of the sources I mentioned with a 2500-2800 stall speed - faster spooling and more durable. Make sure to talk to them on the phone about your particular car setup so they can build it correctly. Lou |

Make sure you know your car weight and gear ratios/tire diameter as well. I can recommend Andre at Edge .... |

Perhaps your journey can bring over to the Mason Dixon race to do some test and tunes?Rick |

That sounds like a great idea. Once I get the FI setup complete, I'm sure there will be a lot of tuning and a ton of test runs. |
