Ok Everyone on this list must think I am a real psycho now. I may be setting a record for most postings in a 48 hour period. This is because the super six conversion on my wifes car has ground to a halt as I learned about exhaust man warpage the hard way. She is being tolerant for now but the clock is ticking down! I have been thinking of options and I just thought of another, super cheap way out here. Is the only difference between the 2bbl exhaust manifold and the 1bbl manifold the dimaeter of the outlet pipe? If so, i could just port out the outlet on the 1bbl manifold that came off my car and be off to the races (assuming it is not warped of course) Someone out there let me know if I am on the right track here. The outlet on the manifold is the same on all the manifolds about 2". Someone noted that the supersix manifold might have a slight 'kick' like 5 degrees outward to maintain the bigger header pipe it uses, but my Feather Duster still uses the same pipe and it's stock manifold has no kick to it... Not sure about this. I measured the outlet diameter on my junk super six manifold and on my stock 1bbl manifold found the super six to be bigger by 1/4 inch. The surface area of the exhaust mounting flange is exactly the same between the two. The bend in the outlet runner tube appears to identical between the two. So, if I can establish for sure that the outlet hole diameter is the only difference, then I can use my old 1bbl manifold after a bit of grinding. If I am going to be grinding might as well hit the ports too, what is the proceedure for grinding out the ports? Just grind away material from the inside wall of each or do you enlarge the entire port opening? Thanks DW |

When a friend tried using a 1bbl exhaust manifold on his super six manifold, there was a gap between where the manifolds bolted together. He went and found a super six manifold (uncracked) and then it went together. I don't know the details or why this was. Must have been some difference between the two, all I know. Make sure you check this before bolting up. |

I've heard of the mismatch issue Eric mentioned affecting other manifolds, and I think it's more of a warpage problem than a design problem. In fact, I may have wound up sticking a 1-bbl exhaust manifold to a Super Six intake manifold back when my Dart had a Super Six. The problem is that the warpage of one manifold may affect the warpage of the other, so manifolds become "matched pairs" over time. That's the most important reason for wanting to grab both manifolds on a Super Six car. |

Yeah I kind of figured that they probably warped in pairs although they are made of different materials and so that may also be a factor. Wish I could just buy a brand new one but of course that isnt an option unless I could afford the dutras. I am leaning towards a new mopar performance header. Thanks DW |

Wow I was surprised - I got hits at autozone, kragen and NApa. I used a 74 dart 225 for the search vehicle - the price was $400 + Dorman 674232 and Motormite (same number) and BalKamp BK 6002436 One question that I have is the heat stove area the same size on the super six and the 1 bbl cars? |

at napaonline.com they were 410. kragen (partsamerica.com) and autozone.com 439. and 459. And I bet you still get to pay shipping and state sales tax  I sure will look at the ones in the boneyards closer now. |

when I super sixed my car I measured the exhaust outlet on both manifolds and found they were the same at 1 3/4"  . The stock pipe dosen't like to seal properly though i think there is a slight cant to the super six exhaust manifold. I am using the stock one barrel stove pipe on my super six manifolds.

To fix that problem, just lossen the hangers for the whole exhaust system and everything should even out when bolted together again. It worked for me... |

I still have one more manifold set stashed away in the garage - I need to check and see if it is warped. If it is good I'll use it. If it is warped I'll call. Thanks for providing their contact info. |
