Does this pattern match anything else that is on the market today, or do I have to call clifford/cut my own? |

If I remember right, I think that is the old Rodchester Quadrajet bolt pattern. (Dennis reminded me that is a "4-Jet" pattern)I'm not sure what years - models came with the old 4-jet, that carb was mostly used on GM and F0&@ stuff. DD |

Actually, it is the old Carter AFB bolt pattern, the same with the Offy manifold. The adapter is for using the larger, Holley 4160 bolt pattern. |

383-4v chryslers in the mid 60's (like my grandfather's 1966 Chrysler 300), I think dual AFB's were used on some Hemi configurations.... They are a 'squarebore' pattern, some ford big blocks might be that type too.... -D.Idiot |

Actually it should be a 4-Jet. They were used up to '66 and had the same pattern as an AFB. DD |

A Carter AFB never came "stock" on a \6. These carbs were used on just about any and all of the Hi-Po V8s during the '60s. When the Offy 4v manifold was first developed (1960?), this flange pattern was the standard. When Holley introduced the 4160 series of carbs, they used a bigger bolt pattern. Why did Holley use a bigger bolt pattern, I don't know, maybe because they were using larger throttle bores, or maybe they wanted to stick it to Carter. Why did Clifford use the same bolt pattern, when they developed their manifolds in the '70s? I don't know, backwards compatibilty with the Offy manifolds? Jack would know, but he is is no longer with us. The same thing happened for aircleaners. The AFBs had a smaller aircleaner base then the Holleys 4160s. This was really frustrating in the old days, when you upgraded your AFB to a Holley. You needed to buy a carb adapter, maybe an aircleaner adapter. By the way there is nothing special about the adapters, you used to be able to buy them from Mr Gasket, for about half the price that Offenhauser and Clifford sells them for. Of course now, all Carter/Edelbrock/Webber 4v carbs have the same bolt pattern as the Holley 4160s. But if you notice, the Carter/Edelbrock/Webber are still drilled for the old flange style. |

Okay, so if I wind up getting an Offy 4 barrel intake for my Slant 6, what carb/adaptor package would be best? If I understand your post correctly, any newer Carter/Edelbrock/Weber carb should have both bolt patterns to fit either the AFB or 4160 style manifolds Thanks, Rob |

Hmmm... on second thought that gasket may not be the right one. Des anyone know if the holley 4500 is the same pattern as the clifford intake? http://store.summitracing.com/partdetai ... =MRG%2D58C That is the same shape as the one that came with my intake, but I wish I had a dimensioned drawing of that to verify. Or maybe the gasket in the link of my previous post, the 4 inner holes are the same as the gasket mentioned in this post? |

I always just get a standard Holley/Edel squarebore 4bbl gasket and punch holes in it and trim the ears off to fit. Lou |

They should physically bolt together, But, I suspect the carbs linkage will not clear the manifold without the adapter. |
