Which way to go?... I've got an aluminum Super Six, but no carb, etc.
A friend has an Offenhauser 4 barrell he'll sell me for $125, no carb also.
After running high to mid 20's at Bristol you know I want more. I'm thinking I should go ahead and go with the four barrell because I can grow into it.
Engine is stock and of questionable condition right now. I'm looking at building something... eventually.
Is $125 a decent deal? thanks.
Rob

I would vote for the Offy with a small (390cfm) carb. The performance is noticably better than the 2bbl and the installation is hardly more difficult.
Also, the aluminum 2bbl manifolds are known for poor quality and durability. If you ever do get around to building an engine, you will want
the Offy. $125 sounds quite reasonable; I think Summit has the Holley
390 for around $250. The extra cfm will not hurt your stock engine, but you will not take full advantage of this set-up without a 2 1/4 exhaust or
some type of headers. I run both set-ups on my cars.

Rob,

Great meeting you at Bristol this weekend.

I vote for the Offy. You can buy a cheap adapter from TransDapt that will let you run the BBD or any Holley 2300 series 2bbl too. That's a pretty fair price if the manifold is in good condition.

Thanks guys,
That's pretty much what I thought. I'll give him a call tonight. I have a set of Hooker headers.
It was good meeting you too Lou. I love what you've done with your Dart. I'm looking forward to your '66 project.
Rob

Thanks Rob. :) I will certainly bring the '66 Val project out to the drags, if only for some "exhibition" runs...

My current plan is to build my '68 Dart as a drag/street car (i.e., consistency). I'll probably run the '68 at the later events this year, unless I get some serious practice in with launching the '64.

Lou
