I read an old post about Mike Jeffries setting the V/SA national record. I have seen the Buzzin' car. But if V/SA is 22 lbs per cubic inch and assuming the engine is a 225 does that mean the vehicle weight is 4950? somethin' aint right in my thinkin'.....Maybe its not a slant?

That is 22 lbs per hp, not cubes. Not sure what the NHRA "factored" HP, is.

Not sure what his HP is right now. He got some taken away a few years ago, but has been "awarded" some back a couple times since then. Last I knew I think the Dippy weighed about 3350.

To clarify, Mike is not racing the Buzzin Half Duzzin car (68 Valiant). He runs a Diplomat (1980?) in V/SA, as Zilla mentioned.

Best,

Lou

Just an example. When I raced my 65 Valiant in stock eliminator, back in the "70"s, it ran Z/SA, at 25 Lbs/HP. Had a 170 engine rated at 101 HP (was not refactored). Car had to weigh 2525 lbs, and hit the scales at 2530 lbs.
PS: It could run mid 16's with a best of 16.2 on a 17.36 index.

That can be an expensive endevor. Stock is far from stock.

As long as you're in a lower class and not trying to set records, V can be pretty reasonable, especially if you stumble on a car someone else gave up on.

If you really want a V car Mike might be tempted into selling you his.
