My little beast went on a roadtrip to San Diego last night, she was running great, real quiet and mellow goin 80mph down I-5, a beautiful 88 mile trip. the whole time I was on the freeway at cruising 80mph she had 16" vacuum and 3200rpm, water temp didnt break 198*. I really want to bolt on a Auto overdrive to her, i want to hit 100+mph at this same rpm. Im just throwing ideas out. Im stuck between the AOD and fuel injection. Im leaning more towards efi b/c I can get more benefits of it on street/freeway where as AOD is used mainly on the freeways. What are some decent efi kits out there?

Check out my thread in the slixers gallery about the howell efi kit. I'm sure youll get more then 22 when you do efi. No matter if you go throttle body or mpfi, just make sure you get a self programmable (with laptop) controller. Someone in here warned me about the preprogrammed (like howell) style but I gave howell the benefit of the doubt since they said they can dial it in pretty close. Don't trust anyone if they tell you that. As the thread details, I am about to try my fourth chip.

If you do get a preprogrammed gm style setup and dont mind losing some convinience, there is plenty of information on the net about how to program your own rom chip for the gm computers. This way you can have your own cheaper programmable system but for a bit more hassle then a computer you can program on the fly with a laptop. Also plan on a aftermarket ignition box so you can have a nice clean tach output signal to trigger the computer

that's a beautiful little beast you've done up . . . great job!

WRT EFI, i've got nothing but praise for Racetech's SDS system. Their small keypad programmer is easy to use and eliminates the need for a laptop.

That's good to hear...I'm going to be installing this system on the inline-6 engine of one of my non-mopars. Are you using SDS on a Slant-6? When I talked with the guy (in Winnipeg, IIRC) about it, he didn't seem to think it'd work too well because of the non-crossflow head. What's been your experience with driveability, economy, etc?

SSDan . . . yes I am using it on my slant 6 and it works great.

My economy and mileage is lower because of two things:
1. i've got 3.55 gears now rather than 2.76 in the rear so the engine is spinning 30% faster for any given speed.

2. I'm finding it difficult keeping my foot off the gas with the extra power I've got. during idle, my injector duty cycle is at 3 % or less ( with 36 lb injectors). cruising at highway speed, its at 7-9%. When I hammer it, they jump up to 60% or 20 times the idle amount. Its tuned to cover the broad range of driving conditions.

PS: I don't understand what the non-crossflow head has to do with anything EFI.
