Has anyone seen this: https://www.flickr.com/photos/9255485@N ... 0155758880 Id like to try somwthing like this on a 170 while I am building a 225 to replace it. I have 2 questions. 1. Does anyone know where the 2 barrel piece for the bottom of the air cleaner may have come from? 2. What would you do for a kickdown? Thanks |

Have seen similar manifolds as marine manifolds. |

The air cleaner & bottom set is a one barrel unit carefully hogged out to fit a BBD top size. Doesn't leave much inside lip left, so needs to be a snug fit. I cut the skirt off the bottom plate so as to fit a seal to it in order to seal it against the top part, thus giving me a sealed box to which I could route fresh air. Kickdown was accomplished when reversing the shaft rotation by simply stretching & re-shaping the link a bit to reach the other side of the shaft as needed (note the pedal & its bellcrank re-position). I also moved the kickdown bellcrank from the firewall to the bellhousing, but that's not a necessity. |

See the parallel 2bbl setup article, which goes well with the photo documentation of Old6Rodder's conversion that you already found. Quote: Have seen similar manifolds as marine manifolds.
Mmmm…nope. The marine 2bbl intake was a parallel-mount item, just like all the different factory passenger car/truck 2bbl intakes.

Wasn't the old Mopar Performance "M-1" two barrel intake a parallel mount unit? |

Looks cool. Reed, I'm not 100% per cent sure, but I think it was. |

Thanks for the replies and the link! Old6rodder great job on the conversion! Did you use the method from the article mentioned above to attach the linkage to the throttle shaft? or did you have your own method? I understand what he did in the article but the picture is to washed out. Thanks for posting the pics on your project! |

I was just looking at the photo's in the article, the carb looks like its facing bowl in and yours is bowl out. I like your set up better. I will start mocking it up with spare parts. Would like to have an aluminum manifold but I have a cast iron 1 barrel in the shed. (anyone want to trade?) Thanks again!! |

Nope, perpendicular. That's the one that's on my '62 right now.

First I would like to thank old6rodder for the pictures and information. I am trying to duplicate this on my toad. Jase ,As far as I can tell my M1 has the same overall dimensions as a cast iron unit but is a nice Al casting |

The M1 is sandcast 1-piece aluminum (instead of sandcast 1-piece iron or EB-welded 2-piece aluminum). It was advertised as having larger runners than the stock manifold. I've not measured, but if it's true, they're quite minimally larger. The M1 intake also says "MOPAR" on it. Other than that: no difference. |
