Car Model:
74 dart 225 all stock

Died on highway, hauled home, replaced ballast resistor fired right up

Died in highway next day, assumed coil was breaking down, put in new coil fired right up, not

Will star when cold. Runs a few minutes and then dies

Has newish voltage regulator on fire wall, less than six months

Not getting fire

Where to check next?

I know new does not mean good parts, but tired of replacing parts rather than fixing car

Thank you for your replies

Ignition module and distributor pickup coil (inside distributor) are prime suspects for fails-when-hot. To diagnose, wait til car is cold enough to start. Verify it starts, then shut it down. Use a hairdryer or incandescent droplight to heat up the ignition module -- good and hot. If the car doesn't start, you've found the culprit. If it does, repeat the test but heat up the distributor pickup coil instead.

Pull the bulkhead connector apart and check the blades for corrosion. The blur ignition wire being corroded is very common. If nothing else, pulling the connector is free. :D
