My /6 Dart is getting 4.10 gears for next season. To get speedometer re-scaled it needs also speedometer pinion.

From where could be purchased P/N 2538945 pinion gear?

I have 205/60R14 and gears was mentioned above.

edit: used part found from ebay

Post subject:  Got it! Thanks for ebay idea!

Thanks.

I found the part number from Direct Connection parts manual. Google told me that it is the 45 teeth version. And with correct words I found it from ebay.

It is now coming as well Motive 4.10 gears. Sure grip I already have.

Post subject:  Make sure...

You have to make sure you get the correct shaft length on the gear... in the first Ebay posting with picture, the long ones on the left are standard late mopar, and the ones on the right are Jeep/AMC style....

That being said, there is a cutoff in gear type between early 60's and the gears pictures that will fit in any 'late' transmission... hopefully someone can define the cutoff (1966?).

The speedo gear type changed when the 904 changed from a cable shift / flange to the mechanical shift / slip yoke style.

This change happened in 1966 for A-Body Mopars.
So 60 - 65 used the small speedo gear & 66 & up used the later " metal shaft" type.

Thanks Doc for the information, thought the break was somewhere around there.

FYI, the 205/60/14 and 4.10 show that your gear choice is correct, but the calc wants a 45.39 tooth gear... so your speedo will be a smidge off....

904 in my car is somewhere 1973-74 and when I rebuilt it there was one with metal shaft.

This cas has sold new in Finnish Lapland. Has to been seen a lot of road there. Not plenty of original parts in it nowadays. The rear axle could be original. At least it is noisy but it will be now become "fixed".
