Post subject:  Big Favor - 1975 and 1976

Anyone have a 1975 - 1976 Slant 6 with the original-paint valve cover? They had a decal that said "Caution - Torque Spark Plugs to 10 ft.-lbs." or something like that. I want to get the decal reproduced so everyone who wants one can get it. I just need someone to take a good image of it and measure its length and width. Mine's repainted and looks strange without the original sticker. Can anyone help me out? Thanks, in advance.

There is some decal on the valve cover on my 76. It may speak to emissions tune up. I will look for the spark plug one..

There should be 2 on the fenders, one long thin one that gives the initial timing setting and emissions data. The other is a larger one that is color coded and shows the hose 'plumbing' of the emissions hoses from carb, pietin, charcoal canister, temp valves and vacuum amplifier.

Up through about 1978 there should be a white sticker on the valve cover with black lettering that states the torque spec, should be about the size of a playing card.

I know the sticker of which is spoken. It is white with red lettering, very boxy looking lettering. Roughly 8 inches long and about 2-3 inches all. It gets stuck on the flat of the valve cover between the PCV and the breather.

Yes, factory decal applied to the flat of the valve cover between PCV and breather, and playing-card sized. "Caution - Torque Spark Plugs to 10 ft./lbs." or something. My dad's 75 Swinger had it and my 76 Dart Sport did. Mid-70s for sure. Hope someone's got it and can grab a photo. It's cool when you can slap a new one back on after painting. I'm sure if it were a decal for the 340, it would already be available, right? Thanks for the help.

i have one, intact and unmolested. however, i use a flip phone and have no idea how to A). obtain the photo (but there is a "camera" feature on the phone), or; B) transfer said image onto the internet. worse, i have no interest in learning how. however, i AM willing to try to help, so i will ask a friend for assistance.

who knows?

(like many others, i am a confirmed luddite. i only learned how to turn on a computer when i had to rip up a document after the third try on my typewriter. i only ha e a cellphone because of work. i refuse to get a smartphone. my last phone lasted me 15 years. my camera uses film. can you believe i like old cars, too?)

Still hoping someone can help me out? With a good pic and length/width, I can get it reproduced for everyone.

i haven't forgotten. i took it yesterday to get a new windshield. while i had it out, i looked and the decal is not perfect, but i'm guessing some photoshop skills might make it useable. i will (try to) pay attention to this thread. nice weather forecast today.

Completely off topic but I had to respond to this,

Unfamiliar with the term luddite.
Seems I am one too.
Gonna hafta look that one up in the dictionary.
:)

Folks laugh like crazy and many refuse to believe me when I tell them my phone is still hanging on the wall in the kitchen, and it only rings three times.
They have to call back if they want to get in touch with me, as I wont go out of my way to get to it...
The grand kids didn't want to believe the old dial phone in the garage is a phone.

The girl friend taught me how to use a computer for selling old car parts.
I have since gotten involved in a couple mopar sites.

Sorry for the high jack,
now back to your previously programmed conversation.

Post subject:  Stickers for the 70's valve covers...

Here's a couple of examples:

The 1975-1976 versions are black and have a different part number, but thsi should show examples of the spark plug sticker, and sometimes you find a part number sticker on the late covers...

Hope this helps...and is downloadable...

well, i got the pics yesterday, but my buddy's phone couldn't access his email to send them to me. dusteridiots' was in better shape than mine, anyway. however, i also got the one for the vacuum hose routing, which is colorful and kinda pretty.

btw, it may just be my monitor, but the lettering on the sticker should be a fairly bright red. it doesn't look like that on my screen.

mine is a 75 california valiant custom.

ok, i just re-read this and see that some are apparently black. i guess there is more than one kind, maybe.

What part number is in the corner of your sticker... that might be the answer.

3735074 is the number. it's raining here, and my friend with the pics lives 7 miles away. however, i still plan to post them. the hose routing sticker is pretty cool, and is valuable information.
