I would like to convert my Slant6 to a Super Slant6. I have all the maniolds but no carburetor. I found a Old Carter BBS from my dad's old 65' 273 V8. The tag numbers are 3843S 0289 Is this carb convertible for my Super six project? Are the venturi sizes useable? Would I have to change the jetting? Would this 2 barrel kill my great gas milage (24 on the highway) with a 833 4 speed? I just want to be able to PASS someone without needing to FLOOR it for 5 minutes. I have already converted this engine to electronic ignition and voltage regulator many years ago. |

All BBD's are more or less the same except for jetting and a few other differences. That one ought to work and is likely to give somewhat better performance than regular Super Six jetting. There is some controversy over whether the BBD's with holes in the throttle plates will work on a slant six. Also, I have found that my Super Six gives better mileage than the single barrel Holley did. |
