I'm making a prototype this afternoon and will then make any changes needed before making the patterns to begin casting these. I'll post pics of the 3D Solidworks model once I settle on the final finned portion of the cover. Then i'll be completing a matching finned valve cover. |

Is this a timing cover that would allow one to re-set cam timing without removing the complete timing cover and damper and disturbing the oil pan seal, if so you have something. |

It will require removing the balancer, but leaving the oil pan hump undisturbed and gasket seal against the block. There are too many timing sets that have a multi-keyed crank gear to isolate them from the equation by making it where the balancer remains in place. Perhaps a third upper cover could be an option for those that use offset cam bushings to degree their cams, allowing them to remove only that cover that obscures the cam but does leave the balancer in place. One final thought, on the 2 pc. design, the balancer can remain in place and the outer cover simply rotated to the right or left to expose the cam gear for those using offset bushings, leaving the balancer in place. |

I would also be interested. This would be a great addition to the community, and something that has never been built before except "one offs". I always use cam bushings instead of crank sprocket keyways anyway. Crank sprockets are too hard to get off, usually. Personally, I don't really care about aluminum/finned, but the front cover removal for cam adjustments would be fantastic. Best, Lou |

This  I don't expect you to incorporate this next solution, but If I had one, first thing i would do is add a cam position sensor boss, for an installed cam magnet for Seq EFI |

Rick, yes I was planning on some sort of cam walk boss for those that wanted it. Good idea jcc, I am modeling a front mount TB intake for EFI also, so this may be a good companion mod for that. |

Oooooooooh! I second the request for a cam position sensor boss! Would it be possible for the EFI intake to have injector bungs for MPFI? |

cast aluminum with fins is all pie in the skywhat folks want is to be able to re set cam timing without disturbing the damper and oil pan seal,,, to make it simple: to re set cam timing, I don't want to pull the motor, but I can, I certainly don't want to have to completely reseal the oil pan,,, comprehend? |

and that is great stuff,, but for the 99% of folks that are not running a slant in a FE dragster,, a timing cover that is split to allow cam timing changes without disturbing the oil pan seal, may have a market.

What I would like to suggest is make the piece that bolts to the block with a big block chevy timing chain cover bolt pattern. It would not be too hard to cut the cast BBC cover and put an seal between the two halves to make it a two piece or just leave it one piece for the show car guys. Just buy a Hilborn or Enderle cover and save the cost of having to cast a new cover just for the slant. Mark |

The main purpose is to create my own brand of product for the slant, hacking and modifying another companies parts defeats that purpose. Plus it places the burden of having to mate the pieces together onto the user instead of being able to take it out of the box and simply bolt it on and go. |
