Are slant six valve covers interchangeable thru the years? I want to use a clean '62 cover on a later motor, but the later cover seems taller. is this correct?

1960 -79 all interchange, when the Slant 6 got hydralic lifters, the valve cover got wider. Look-up the valve cover gasket years, you will see two different ones called-out.

Note that the breather, PCV and oil filler hole positions all moved around over the years.
