Hi to all the slanters.. I am in need of a new sending unit. I found them new on LMC Truck Parts. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/dc/full.aspx?Page=21 Problem is,, I do not know if I have a 20 gallon or a 30 gallon Tank.. Could someone please help?? I know that parts do differ for that year (pre 06/1982 vs post 06/1982) I have the pre 06/1982, if this helps any. Thank you... |

when i rebuilt the 83 D150 I swapped out the small standard tank for the large optional tank that I got out of a '91 D150, I still have the small original tank in my back yard storage area, I'll measure the length of it and the large fuel tank on the D150 tomorrow and post em here. |

If you have a short bed, you have the 20 gallon tank. A long bed could have either. My '84 is a long bed and I have the 20 gallon tank. |

Wait for Dad Truck's measurements to confirm but a short bed doesn't appear to have room for the longer tank. |

This is funny to me... There are days when my head is not screwed on right.. I worked in a pet shop for many years. Many times, people would come to the shop asking for advice about their fish tank. Many times they would want to know what size fish tank they have.. I would always ask them to measure the tank.. Today,, I am not following my own advise.. Measuring the tank should of been step #1.. In the fish tank world, 1 cubic foot = 7.5 gallons |

these measurements are + / - at least an inch, but there is enough of a length difference you will know which tank you have putting a tape measure against the bottom of the fuel tanks 20 gal is 4 feet in length 30 gal is 5 feet in length and yes the 30 gal tank will fit in a short bed, the cab floor has an upset that clears the tank |

1 cubic foot works out to 230.4 cubic inches per gallon.. Pretty close to the actual numbers. |
