Does anyone have any detailed video on a sl6 complete rebuild? I watched a short video on power nation about building a sl6 but it was not very detailed as far as the actual machine work. Id like to see a sl6 head being ported polished and explained why its being done. |

There's a company called Box Wrench that does a pretty good engine rebuilding DVD for about $40. It includes footage of the machine shop work. If you're a complete noob like me it's worth the investment. Their model is a V8 (Chevy I think) but the techniques are the same for any engine. For the porting/polishing stuff, emsvitil posted a link in my thread "Extras in 1974 rebuild" to a Pirate 4x4 article on DIY porting/polishing. That article has a lot of pictures and explains how and why you should do it. |

Really, if you've ever rebuilt an engine, any engine, the slant six is about as simplified as it gets and it goes together the opposite of how it comes apart. But I get what you're saying. I don't know of any how-to book on rebuilding them, but if you read and read and read on this site and ask questions you'll get through it. Someone else may chime in here with a good resource on a video or book specific to the slant. |
