 Post subject: Savable piston?? Or no?

This is one of the TRW's that got dropped, is it junk or can it be saved in your opinion??

You'll need to mic it or have it mic'd by your machine shop to see if the skirt is collapsed.

That short extension at the bottom of the skirt it there to promote piston stability in the bore and limit piston slap,,however look at modern pistons and note how short piston skirts have become. That little ding is very inconsequential. The other item helping is the location of the nick, being off the center of the skirt, at the skirt center is the maximum skirt diameter, the skirt profile falls away from the skirt center. Be sure there is no displaced metal protruding out, pay a little attention and verify that there is clearance with a finished bore and the piston, motor and you will never know that nick is there.

Not a big deal. Dress the nick, measure the skirt. It's probably just fine.
