When you have a race car with open headers you are not going to hear any pinging ![]() ![]() I have 11.5 CR and a 9.01 DCR with the cam I'm running. I have been running 100 octane Sunoco unleaded but I don't like the $9.49 price tag. So can I mix some 100 and some pump premium and still be Ok? Maybe there is a chart out there for Octan needs by CR? Thanks, Rick |

Can you post your cam specs and installed centerline? Probably yes... I would mix 110 or 112 with 93 pump gas. Lou |

Oregon 1080i .566 lift, 257 dur. @.050, lobe sep. 104, intake Centerline-102 installed at 99, 49 overlap @.050 Intake - Opens 27 BTDC closes 51 ABDC exhasut- closes 55 BBDC closes 23 ATDC I was running the straight 100, so I didn't trash the O2 sensor. I know some people are running a mix of Leaded/Unleaded and still having decent O2 sensor life. Thanks |

Thanks, Rick. With the right ign timing (30 deg max mech adv) and AFR (12.5-13:1), I would say mix 1/3 of 110 octane and 2/3 pump premium and you should be fine. 1/2 and 1/2 if you want extra insurance. It is conceivable you could run pump premium only with a perfect tune up, but you will really be on the edge. You might even make more power on 1/3 or 1/2 of 110 than with pure 110. At least with my AEM O2 sensors, I have run 1/2 or less leaded racing gas (for strip only, pump gas on street) and have only replaced one sensor, just recently, after 50k miles and 10+yrs. I don't know about consistent use, although the AEM instructions say something about leaded gas use and reduced (but still serviceable) life. My 2 cents... Lou |
