So I realize this isn't a slant ? but ive posted on FABO and have no response. I looking to get my 67 dart visors sewn back together. The material is in perfecr shape just the threads have come undone. None of the shops here have the machine for the thicker material. Any recommendations from anyone? The 3 shops have offered to make new ones but with the thinner material I really don't want to go that way. I appreciate any help or advice. Thanks. |

Yep... there are a couple of old school places here in town that do hand stitched upholstery, price isn't cheap... but they can do hand sewn custom leather interior for the right price. You might check for the alternate professionals in the field that are only word of mouth.

Maybe get this for $8 and give it a try? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073W9972N/re ... J9M1&psc=1 I've not done visors, but I have sewn different and heavy materials, the curved needles come in handy. My guess is to do it when it's warm and pliable as possible, try a few stiches to see how it goes, if you can't do it without harming the vinyl, then I'd suggest it's worth having the shop do it. That color may be hard to find. Is it copper or gold tone? There was also a red color back in the day that could be coppery, can you please post a pic of the color? Those were undoubtedly sewn by machine, I wonder if a local sewing guru has a setting on their machine that'll do it. brian |

You can probebly sew them just like sewing leather holsters, or belts. Good tuff nylon thread, of the same color, and a needle on both ends of the tread. If you have a "Tandy leather store" nearby, check them out, they should have everthing you need. Thead in all colors, and needles. Take one of your visors with you, and show them to the staff, so they know what you are doing. barracudadave67 |

Thanks for all the replies. I will try a shoe repair its run by an older couple and I have seen their work. Its worth asking. As for me doing it forget it I'm as good with sewing as body work. not at all. I will try to post a pic after work today haven't had a lot of luck in the past doing that. |
