73 Dart Swinger has been sitting 3 years, she has only 32,000 miles and is very clean. 225 engin will turn over with about 100 lbs compression. Dist.cap, rotor, wires, coil, ballast, electronic iginition box, and fuel pump have been replaced. 1920 Holly has been rebuilt and does not flood. Timing appears to be good. Why will this engine not fire up? Oil ahs been changed too. I have spark, timing, compression, and starting fluid and I am confused. Can an engine skip time and still have N0.1 TDC, compression and zero on the timing mark? Thanks for your time. |

Ar you sure it is at TDC Compression and not TDC Exhaust stroke. Has the distributor been out lately? The timing could be 180 degrees off. DD |

Are the valves properly adjusted? Is the choke properly adjusted? Vacuum leak? Rusted up or bent exhaust line? Ruptured diaphragm in the fuel pump? I once purchased a 74 valiant that had 78,000 miles on it and wouldn't start. Turned out the camshaft ha broken in two place and only two cylinders had valve movement. You might want to pull the valve cover and double check valve movement. Reed |
