Hello Everyone, I have 2 fully functional and complete drum to drum 7 1/4 Rear ends that I do not need any longer. (a friend and I upgraded to 8 3/4). Before I send them to the metal recyclers, I wanted to make sure there is not a value in these - within the forum. I live near San Francisco - if anyone needs them. Thanks Joe |

Quote: Hello Everyone,
My buddy has one going out in his '66 Valiant wagon (3.23, I would guess). He is thinking about switching to a 2.93 for better milage. What are the ratios? (We are in Grass Valley).

Thanks for the reply. I just spun the drum twice and the pinion rotation stopped right before 3 complete rotations. With this low tech test, I should be what you are looking for. One rear end is out of a 1965 Dart GT - the other is a 1970 Dart Swinger. I also have a box of new Raybestos Drums, Shoes, wheel cylinders, spring kits for 1 complete 9" rear brake setup. I bought them all from Rock Auto and would sell them for what I paid - if he wanted them. Otherwise, I was planning to return them and ship them back. |

That would be the 2.93. I'm interested, although the '70 probably won't fit. All of our cars are '63 - '66. We would have to figure out how to meet up and $$$.

Chuck- the 70 rear end will fit the early As. All A body rear axles are the same dimenstons width wise. I have installed 73-76 8 1/4 axles in a 64 Valiant and a 66 Barracuda with no problems. |

I thought that they were wider. Maybe that was the B-Body. Old brain cells got re-purposed. Anyway, I'll take them!
