Hi, I'm posting here in asking some of you who knows best about SL6 2-bbl manifolds. My questions is that: which years would be best working on a '66 slant 6 motor. It's in my '66 A-100 van, running well with 1-bbl manifold.

I'm interested in switching to 2-bbl type to make it more better on roads. I go on camping trips in summers only on this van. Anyone have one to sell or trade with what I have on my slant 6? Thanks for any advice!

I've gotten a couple replies that says I should try get 2-bbl intake from '76-up Aspens and Dusters...but not sure about the changes in that years (smog controls, alumlium metal, etc)

Hm, no replies yet? I'll try wait a little more longer.

In my van is a 225 slant 6 with 1-bbl manifold so you know what I have. Thanks!

I also do have a '69 Dart with 225 /6, 2-bbl at my work, being fixed up for new paint job. I need to ask you what should I do to clean up in the engine...you see, I noticed dry black smoke going out the tailpipe. I suspected had to do with oil or something? Thanks again.

Dry black sooty on exhaust pipe and black smoke.
Not oil burning way too rich.
Stuck choke, flooding carb etc.
Too much fuel.
Blue smoke out tail pipe is oil burning.
Check oil filler tube for blowby meaning leaky piston rings.
On sparkplugs, dry black and carboned way too rich fuel mixture. Black oily fouled leaking oil rings valve guides etc.

76-up Aspen and Volare Wagons with a slant six are more than likely to have a 2 barrel setup. These will have the EGR valve, which can easily be eliminated if necessary.
All of the 2bbl manifolds I have seen have been cast iron. There were some made from aluminum, but they were welded together and prone to leaks.
If you are running an automatic, get the intake, carb, air cleaner, and all the kick-down linkages/springs.

Ummmm…necro-posting! The original poster asked the question sixteen years ago and probably got a suitable answer or sold/junked the car by now.
