| Post subject: | painting the engine |
putting the final touches on my 1970 slant 6 and prepping it for paint; I am doing a factory restoration on my 1970 D100 truck and want to try to be reasonably true to how these engines were painted at the factory; I don't mean literally but more how to replicate it. I know they were painted as they were hung coming down the assembly line before being dropped into the vehicles, but I am wondering how complete the engines were before painting. I'm wondering if the fuel pump got painted, (obviously not the distributer), etc. Can anyone suggest how much to bolt on the engine before painting to be reasonably close to factory? |
