Hey all.
Bought a small 122 tooth flywheel recently and of course there is 1 of the 6 bolt holes will not line up.
Being such a small flywheel for a 9 1/4 clutch what is it for?
It slips onto the crank nicely though..thanx in advance

Have tried rotating it and could not get them lined up.
Did the V8s come with this small flywheel too.
Will try again in the morning.
Rotate the bolt pattern until they all partially line up... there is one position you will get all 6 bolts in, but 1 or 2 might be tight, leave all loose until
all can be threaded into the crank....

These are the stock flywheels for the 1963-1987 slant six combination with a 3 speed (A-745, A-903, A-230, and some other HD units for trucks),
and A-833 4 speed in the 60's, and A-833OD (3speed with overdrive variant). This flywheel works with the 'high mount' starter bellhousings.
(It will fit earlier slants 1960-62... but some of these got a different flywheel and starter combination pending year). Note that bellhousings
have different bearing retainer bores pending year so late transmissions may not fit into earlier bellhousings.

Cars typically got the 9 1/4" clutch cover and disc, trucks got the 10" clutch cover and disc... a few hipo clutches were made for the 10" size, but are
either of not good quality (Spec Clutch), or not available as a package deal (McCleod)... you can get the flywheel drilled for other clutch combinations
either by McCleod or of your own researched combinations (some have used Ford clutch discs with the 1"x23 spline center hub and a different cover
of the appropriate size). FYI, the 10" stock B&B clutch when overstressed tends to explode... the 9 1/4" will take a little abuse then it will wither and
slip...

Think I have my answer.

My flywheel has 2 offset holes.
Slant 6 has 1 offset hole.
These flywheels are not easy to find up here.
Might have to egg out the 6th hole and use it.
Its being used with my A833 transand bell..

If one hole is off by about 1/2 the diameter of one bolt you have a 273 flywheel. The early V8 A-bodies (and maybe others) used a 122 tooth flywheel and a 10" clutch.

Okay here are the pics, could be a 273 flywheel, but is not a slant 6 flywheel.
Is it wise to drill out the 6th hole and use it as is?

I’ve got a couple of slant flywheels. You can have one for the cost of shipping in a large flat rate box. I ran into the opposite problem thinking I had a V8 flywheel and they’re all for a skant

EDIT: or trade you for your V8 fkywheel
