"Baby" 904 import. 10" T/C , Mitsubishi/Dodge Colt , 1.6L , 1977.
Symptoms
no/curious reverse...
has forward gears and kick down
reverse locks the driveline when engine is running and loads the torque converter
neutral locks the driveline when engine is running and loads the T/C
park locks driveline (expected) and loads the T/C

I'm looking for a fluid map for the 904/727 valve body. Since this was not abuse or even degradation I'm hoping this is a fluid apply issue. Possibly something in the valve body is constantly applying pressure to the front clutch ??
I opened removed the pan and did find a shattered (yes splintered/shattered/broken) accumulator spring but if memory serves that wouldn't cause this. The pan was curiously and completely devoid of debris. No clutch material or alloy shavings and nothing metallic. I'm a bit lost here .

Don't know if you can see it well but one of the fingers from the front clutch bellville spring broke off and lodged between the spring and the piston. That appears to have stuffed the clutch. $4 part. bought the kit for $89. I did begin to remember what I was doing after a bit. It has been 35 years :-)

Wow... the first time I have seen that failure.
The good news, a cheap part and not a lot of metal shavings to clean-out of the system.
