Hey folks I have a 1982 B150 van with points and no ballast resistor. It is running fine but eating points fast so I decided to give Pertronix a try. I got the Ignitor 2 paired with the Flamethrower 2 and still no ballast resistor. Now, the engine starts fine and runs fine but it pings when going uphill. Timing is on the 16 degree mark at 725 RPM (automatic transmission). Any idea what could be causing the pinging? Cheers |

Yeah, that's too much initial advance. Most 225s with points use about 5 degrees initial timing and you're using a point distributor. |

Ahh, Thanks for the info. It's not the original dist and I looked under the hood to figure out the proper timing.. Very dumb of me. Cheers |

Yep, replacing the points with a pertronix changes the timing. After install you must retime. |
