Does anyone know, was there a difference in the oil dipstick length on a slant 6, 170 vs 190 vs 225 ? Or were they all the same, just with different tubes? Reason I am asking, I had to replace my dipstick, and I thought I found an old original, but if I put 5 quarts in, it goes about 1 inch beyond the FULL indicator. I am using the normal WIX filter btw. |

Not sure if they were different for different engine displacements, but there were different length dipsticks over the years. Also different length tubes. |

IIRC, the dipstick needs to be 9" longer than the length of the tube sticking out of the block. |
