Trying to get a stock replacement 10 inch clutch for my 84 D-100 slant six A833OD trans.
Ordered the NAPA NCF 1105004 which is supposed to be the correct clutch kit. Came with a 10 inch pressure plate, and a 9 1/4 inch disc. Store reordered, and the second one was the same. This unit is made by LUK. Store is going to contact "tech service" tomorrow. Will keep you posted.

Charlie, that's a shame. Hope you can get it straightened out. Napa does list it as a 10 in. disc. for A833 slant.

Rock Auto lists only about two 10 in. clutch sets for 833 slant truck. Seems that the world is loaded with 10.5 in., 833 v-8 clutches and 11 in., 435 clutches. They do list a 10 inch lever set as AMS AUTOMOTIVE 05004 OE PLUS. The photo appears to be a very strong resemblance to the Luk Napa NCF 1105004. Price is about $102. vs $173.

I don't want to order a clutch from Rockauto, as there is no way to confirm the size of the disc. If it is wrong, I get to eat the shipping. I have sent an E-mail to a couple of online parts stores, and asked them to confirm the size of the disc, and if the TO bearing carrier is metal or plastic. Waiting for replies.

For the record, I've had issues with Luk clutch kits on newer FWD cars. On two separate occasions, the pressure plate has been different enough that the clutch wouldn't disengage once everything was buttoned up. Fool me once, etc.

No matter what brand of kit you end up with, I'd make sure you check the new one by eye against your old one before installing it.

I have one of these LUK-NAPA clutch kits in the 83 D150, Installed the summer
of 2017, so it has been in use for over a year, 10K+ miles.
Went with a Napa-LUK set after a plastic housing throw out bearing failed with the
Brute Force kit that I had installed.

those details are here
http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic ... ut+bearing

After reading Charlies comment I crawled under the truck, removed the inspection plate and observed
the clutch disk to pressure plate size,, yep,, it appears to be the small clutch disk as I can see the perimeter of the
pressure plate. I dug into my spare parts stash and found the Brute Force clutch and pressure plate that I had
removed when the plastic throw out bearing failed and it is a perfect match on the OD, both are 10 inch.

For what its worth, since installing the NAPA-LUK clutch set,
I have a used the 83 D150 as a summer daily driver and a tow vehicle. Towed the 68Barracuda
from Indy to Wilbsboro, Clay City and several local test and tune sessions and did not encounter any
'clutch' issues.
However, over the past month of driving I did feel that the tranny was not shifting as easy as it should.
is that related to the clutch ?, possibly, but it could also be a linkage issue.

The 83 D150 stays parked during the Indiana winters, so I will get into the shifting issue over the winter-early spring.

Concerning the disk-plate size match I will see if I can get any answeres from a LUK tech.

Napa contacted LUK tech. They said the 9 1/4 inch disc is what they supply with the 10 pressure plate. Got a confirmation the Brute clutch has the 10 disc. Ordered one from Rock auto. If it comes with a plastic TO bearing housing, I will buy a TO bearing/housing from another supplier.

Got my new Brute clutch kit, today, after several screwups by Fedex. It is a 10 inch pressure plate, and 10 inch disc. However it did come with a plastic/composit throwout bearing housing. I called Brute CS/tech and explained the issue of a couple of TO Housing failures, by others. CS rep took my address and said he would send a metal TO bearing/housing, no charge. Big thumbs up to Brutes' customer service.

I would not buy a LUK clutch again ever. Put a 9" LUK in my Valiant daily driver and as another poster mentioned after a 100 miles or so I depressed the pedal and it never came back up. I was getting ready to order a NAPA replacement for a 318 OD pickup I'm trying to resurrect so I'm glad I stumbled across this thread. If NAPA is now partnered with LUK. Brute Force here I come.

Was it a diaphragm type clutch?

Charlie did you go directly to Brute for the TO bearing? And what part number?

And does anyone know for sure, are the V-8 T/O bearings the same as Slant 6 ?

That is what I thought, so I would think that a HD clutch kit for a V8 should have the steel Throw out bearing available even after they dry up as listed for a Slant 6.

Got the TO Bearing assy direct from Brute. It just came in a small shipping box. No part number included. Acording to rockauto website, the S6, and V-8 To bearing assy's are the same. Back in the "old days", many times we would just change the bearing, using the original housing/collar. That is what I was going to try, if I couldn't get the steel housing.
I give Brute a thumbs up, for taking care of this potential problem for me.
