I have a question about the later hydraulic cam slant engines. Can I simply swap in a mechanical cam/hardware and run with it? Where any changes made to the block to accommodate the hydraulic lifters? |

To swap, you would need a cam, lifters, adjustable rockers, and potentially pushrods depending on what has been done to the block, head, etc. ~THOR~ |

Good stuff. I am looking for another cast crank motor and if the hydraulic ones are easy to swap to mechanical, then that opens up a few more years to my search. I plan to use the earlier heads (drool tube) and the mechanical rocker assembly on the cast block. My 79 block was cast crank, solid lifter and that worked out pretty well for me. |

Must use mechanical pushrods, they are cup/ball. Hydraulic pushrods are ball/ball. Also use the cam bearings for the year of the block, not the cam.
