hello all!!,

I am new to this site and looking for some info.. I am currently working on a 1983 d100 short box pickup rebuild.. I dropped the engine off a few months ago at a local machine shop to have a long block rebuild done on it. he called me today to inform me that he believes he messed up..... he put a hydraulic cam and lifter combo in it and the original stuff was mechanical....I have read on here that the rocker tube assembly is different between each style. I actually would prefer to stay hydraulic if possible, what needs to be changed?? can I run the mechanical rocker assembly with the hydraulic cam?? will it cause any damage?? if not where can I find the correct parts I need?? HELP!!! :( :(

You will need the hydraulic rocker arms, rocker shaft, and pushrods. You might need to drill the rear lower shaft mounting bolt hole larger. But that is not a problem.
Rockauto has some rocker arms, and pushrods, but no shaft listed, for a 84 dodge 225
At least the shop was upfront, to say they might have goofed.

well they did order hydraulic push rods with the cam kit... so I guess I just need the rockers?? can I modify the current mechanical tube to work??

Reed did a thread that is tied to the Engine Sticky "Frequently Asked Questions"

This describes the differences. http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=46756

Peruse this info. The rocker shaft is different.
