With 1.8M views (since 12/18!), I'm sure at least a few of you may have seen this video already, but for others like me, it's an opportunity for a little insight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTNJLEV ... e=youtu.be This was a suggested related video to one I was watching. The video shows five popular oil filter brands cut open and compared to one another, pointing out the good and the bad. The findings align with what we've seen on this board for a long time; some filters are very good and highly recommended while others are cheap, ineffective junk that don't even fit into the "last resort" category. I watched it when it came out but watched it again after you posted it. For 20 years I have only used Wix or Mobil1 and I'm glad I did. I used to think "a filter is a filter" until I saw inside a Fram. |

My local independent auto parts store (Roxbury) clued me in 15 years ago to the drop in quality of Fram and the consistent value of WIX. In classes on oil systems my students cut open and inspect many various brands of automotive filters. Some of the dealership brands (Toyota, Nissan, Honda) are also good quality.
