I have been working on this for a while now. When I ran the manifold in the race car, I had a custom bracket and a part off a helicopter to control the carb. For the wagon I wanted to go as stock as possible at least as far as looks and my parts and pieces. Johannes in Germany cast me a front bracket and I have been cutting and fitting parts to make it look right and work right. I have been using the XNR and Asimmetrica pictures as examples. Here are the first mock-up pictures. Take a look and see if you can see any issues or better ideas for what I have fabricated. Thanks.

Will you have any flex issues with that long rod? Everything looks good, though.

I did think about that, and this is a 170, if someone runs a 225 the angle would change again. I don't know if Chrysler had a different part number for a 225 shaft or a 170 shaft. Here is what I have seen over the years.

If you are okay with a dual master cylinder, I would consider a Lokar cable set up and a push-pull throttle instead of that whirly gig. Just my 2 cents.

With enough support for the linkage (to reduce flex) I think that setup would work just fine. What about kick-down linkage? Assuming you are running an automatic.

If you look at the firewall, you'll see he was able to retain the factory linkage, which means his kickdown is likely unaffected.

This looks like a really clean way to make it work!

I have made some changes for safety, dual circuit MC, but I want the linkage to be as stock as I can. Keeping my pedal, and kickdown as mentioned. I have never seen stock linkage in person so I am working from photos. The long rod on the yellow towel has the kickdown linkage. Even the Daytona Valiant had a similar rod and it looks like they were using the kickdown as a return spring. I don't think the package was recommended for an automatic transmission. So some stuff I am experimenting with.

Clean install. My rotating rod is like yours but my linkage from the rod to the carb is different. It has ball and socket ends and adjustable rod?

62 Val, can you post a picture? If I look at the promo picture close it has the ball and socket style. The XNR and Asimmetrica have the other style, like a manual transmission to shift rod style. I am working on each, just looking for some small parts in the mail.

You're completely mad, Stan! I guess I'm with Seymour... Gotta have something to play with though, eh?

Can't wait to see the project tearing up a track,

Lou

Hey Lou, aren't we all a little crazy?
And some of the pictures of linkage I have seen on a few set-up make mine look simple!
I also want to make a few passes, but just to drive it will be a reward.

I got some of the threaded parts yesterday, seeing what I can do. I have a couple of parts I found, 1/4-32 thread! Weird.

Looks Great! The length of the rod would be my only concern. Any way to have a (carrier bearing type) support mid way?

Stan, there is a 62 Lancer GT on EBay right now that has the Hyperpak intake and exhaust on it. It has some pics of the linkage.
