I'm starting the practice mock up for my Hpak on my 'spare' block and head for 'trial' purposes and starting to scratch my head on linkage, brackets and looking at your article....

Since this will be a 'street' application Hpak install, I'm thinking primaries toward the engine is the best orientation....would you concur? Do you have any input on what primaries away from the engine might do?

Things are getting down to the 'critical' what if's before it all goes on...

more pics soon,

thanks!

:)

So far next up late this week should be the Holley 2300 350cfm carb...

Looks like the intake exhaust wafer blew out and I got some nice underhood carb heat going on in the middle of summer...

Good time to switch out for the next setup...

I'm voting for primaries to the front, gotta fab up a support bracket and get over to 'Hershbergers' for a 40" throttle cable, the MiniVan one I have is almost right, but would need a lot of work to make it correct....

Here's my current mockup with primaries toward the engine, the washers are on and fit, the nuts are torqued to 10 ft lbs... getting there.

I have always run Hyper-Paks with the carb mounted sideways, primaries towards the engine.

I would think WOT operation would not know the difference if the secondaries were facing the engine but this could lead to some transition turbulance and a stumble when the secondaries kicked-in.

My bet that any carb oreantation can be made to work with some time and jetting work.

Thank you. :D

I'd rather work with a 'tested' setup and eliminate some variables while tuning it, then later when I have a benchmark to go from I can work on other positions....

cool,

Rob, what about divideing the plenium from the get go when the castings all nice and clean I'll help you with it, Doc, are you still likeing yours? I know I won't go back, though mine's an extended Offy made to fit my truck. Think two two barrels without the linkage problems, anyway you got mail. Bruce Johnson

A divided plenum really helps the low and mid-range on the Hpak.
I like the one I have especially on the smaller 209 engine.
We will have to see how it works on the bigger 254 stroker coming together now.

(Note, things are super busy for me at the moment, not much on line time.)
