Post subject:  Switching from rod to cable throttle linkage

I have a 1963 Dart wagon with rebuilt and beefed up 225 slant six and am switching the intake and carb ... lots of work done and with the 4 barrel carb and intake I need to switch to a cable style throttle and kickdown. I have a gas pedal assembly from a 70's Duster. Are there any tricks to install this type of assembly into the firewall, have it located right and work well? I've read an early a-body v8 assembly works well too but haven't been able to locate one. Any tips are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I put a cable operated linkage in my '64 slant Valiant, and it was simple. I can't remember the donor car, but it was a Mopar...probably a truck. The bracket mounts flat against firewall without any problems. I'm also using a Duster pedal with cable linkage on a modified '56 Plymouth, and it was a bit more difficult.

Thanks 64Convert!
I'm guessing you just drilled new holes for the bolts and cable through the firewall? It doesn't look like the new set up will line up with the previous hole for the rod system.

That's correct. It was easy to calculate the location and the cable length is forgiving. Mine was a little longer than needed, but I just put a small loop in it.

I used one from a '75 Dart. I removed the flange, welded up the holes, and drilled new ones. The best place is where it is most comfortable for your foot.
