Post subject:  How about this cam grind

First off, I want to thank everyone for their help. I've gained a lot of good
info from this site about the slant six.

I see that Cranecams has a grind that MIGHT work with my 1bbl (sometime maybe 2bbl) and 3.55 rear. Remember, I just wanna cruise, not race. This is Crane Cams grind #720771. Has anybody used this grind with any luck??

Thanks,

Tim

Can you post the lift and duration specs (including dur @ 0.050")?

Thanks,

Offhand, it sounds good to me. The advertised duration seems high, but you know how much that means. The duration at .050" seems much more in line with a streetable motor, though knowing the vehicle weight and torque converter stall rating would help a lot. My guestimation is just that-a guestimation. You're already doing the best thing you can-asking other people with extensive slant six experience. Calling the cam company for recommendations would be a good idea too, but remember that they have much more experience with v-8's. That said, it would also be a good idea to frankly ask whoever you talk to at a cam company whether they have any experience with picking cams for straight sixes. After all, that's really what the slant six is, so you might as well capitalize on any relevant ford and chevy experience they may have.

That is just a shade bigger than a stock cam, and will work fine with a stock converter and small carb (like a BBD) or even a 390 4bbl.
