Anybody ever measured how much additional weight the slant six puts on the right front tire compared to the left?

We scaled my junk this winter. I forget what it was. My fat azz offsets it though.

Lou and Ryan Have 4 corner scales.

The cars are still front heavy. I am not sure However if the RF is more loaded than normal.. if it were it would help to offset the driver as Dennis Sez.

Good question!
I know fitting the slant into the Colt, that dang thing wants to flip over and fall out on the right, every chance it gets!
I want to move it left, and down, just don't have the room.

Procycle,

It's basically a non-issue. I just looked back at my corner weights for 5 different cars (4 A-bodies and my 90 "Slantkota"). None of them had significant RF bias and most of them had more on the LF by 30-130 lbs, with me (175 lbs) in the driver seat. All of them except the Dak had the battery in the trunk toward the right rear and some had a stock alternator and some a lightwt version low down on the driver side. With small torsion bar and/or leaf spring adjustments, you can move the weight bias around a fair bit. With the stock battery location in the Dak, it was 130 lbs more on LF. The other "mostly stock" body cars were my long-gone 64 Valiant and my current 68 Dart, still with batt in the trunk and still 100 lbs more on LF than RF.

Note that A-bodies have the trans/DS tunnel offset to the right by something like 2". Not sure about the Dak.

A bit surprising, but there it is...

This reminds me that I need to weigh my 62 Valiant. That still has the stock alternator on the pass side.

Yeah, I didn't think of it as being an issue. Just thought one of the racers here might have noted a difference.

Anyway, I'm building this Slant powered S10 pickup from scratch. Part of the plan is to mount the engine well back. About half under the dash. I'm thinking of offsetting it two inches to the right to make a bit more knee room for the driver and maybe avoid having to move the steering column and brake master over.

I made a diagram to help figure out left and right weight affects of the driver and moving the engine. By my best reckoning moving the engine right 2 inches still isn't enough to balance out the weight of a driver.

Yep, sounds like a good plan. The engine just doesn't weigh that much and its center of mass is not that far off center.
