John Killin. I don't have any extra good transmissions. However, most leaks are not a big deal to fix. Common places are pan gasket, kickdownshaft seal, shift cable "O" ring, park cable housing, speedometer cable "O" ring. These leaks are easy to fix. Rear trans seal, is a little harder. Front pump seal, requires trans removal. Also possible cooler line leak. I shoud have any parts needed to fix leaks. Try to isolate the leak.

Thanks Charlie,

I'm going to try to track the leak down in the next month or so.

I think my seats are going to the upholsterer in September. That's probably when I'm going to tackle the leak.

Hopefully it is something simple. I have pulled the Spedo cable about three times since I have had the car. So that may be a possibility.

What do I need to ask for when I am trying to buy the gaskets and for the cable inputs for one of these transmissions? Do I need to order a kit? Or do they sell them individually?

Thanks again, and I’m sure I’ll be back with more questions.

John

John,
The "O" rings and gaskets for the PB trans, come in the eary style kits. These kits are still available, but some parts outlets do not list them. If it turns out, all you need is a couple of items, it does not pay to buy the complete kit. Give me a shout, I have some extra parts. If you do need a complete kit, make sure it covers pre 1966 transmissions.

Is this a gasket kit or a total rebuild kit?

I'm new to the transmission world so I'm not sure what to ask for.

Thanks,

John

They sell both. A master overhaul kit, which includes everything except the bands. A seal kit, which is self explanitory.
