If I were to use a Mopar 528 cam and 340 spec springs, how much would I need to have trimmed from the top of the valve guides? (or suggested amount??) |

Someone might know a number, but you need to check your combination. Most of the time, cutting for a better seal will get the clearance you need. A seal like the teflon style, not the rubber style. |

.100" is my go-to for guide trimming, but you should install a valve and retainer to see what your gross clearance is now and subtract the height of the seal you'll use for the net clearance. |

Yes, measurement is best, but 0.125" is a good ballpark. Careful you do not coil bind those 340 springs too. Not sure they can take that lift number. Good to see you on the site! Lou |

340 springs are right on the edge with that cam. As Lou said, make sure to check coil bind. |

Thanks for the input! I'm going by what's on hand as far as valve springs go. I heard they need to be cut after the lift goes above .450...but I don't how much truth there is to that. |
