I have measured the bores in my /6 for size and roundness, high in the bore and lower. Came up with a big bore diameter of 3.4060" and a small bore of 3.4010" I'm hoping to hone the cylinders and use stock size rings. Any comments, suggestions. Are these acceptable tolerances? |

My '64 FSM lists the max allowable out-of-round as 0.005" and max allowable taper as 0.010". I think you're good to go. If you see that full variation at one height in a single bore then you're right up against the out of round limit, but even then I wouldn't sweat it for a stock-ish engine. |

Vote #2 to re-ring / overhaul the engine & run it. To be honest, I have successfully re-ringed SL6 engines with even more wear, with good results. DD |
