Hi, I'm in the process of rebuilding a spare 904 to swap into my Dart. Mostly just because. The car has a 225 with RV10 cam built by Doug Dutra. ~9.2:1 CR with dual Dutra manifolds, EFI, 3.23 gears. Mostly city driving. Seems to make decent power from 2200 or so on up. I'm wondering if a torque converter with a bit more stall would be useful in this combination. I get a big RPM drop from park to drive, although I've been able to tame that a bit with timing. It just feels to me like a 2200-2400 stall converter would help get the car up and moving a bit better. I know this topic gets tossed around. I've poked around a bit and it generally seems the answer is "yes." I'm curious if anyone has a similar setup and what their experience is. Thanks, Doug |

If it were my car, I would call Edge Racing Converters and order a 2300-2400 RPM stall. The modern converters are quite efficient, so you won't lose much if any MPG but it will wake it up on take off as you say. Midwest converters also makes nice ones and has experience with Slants. Lou |

Thanks. They were on my list to call. I've been really happy with the (advertised) 2300 RPM stall behind the 440 in my Charger. That thing has an actual stall of around 3kRPM in the car, but surprisingly it holds pretty tight at cruise. Any other opinions/experience is welcome. |

Andre at Edge should be able to hit the stall within 200 RPM or so. He has done a LOT of Slant 6 converters. Lou |

Andre set me up with a converter that has about 2200 rpm stall, and it's made a difference. Still cruises fine but gets off the line a bit quicker. I also did a TransGo TF-2 shift kit and that's been helpful to raise shift points a bit. Overall I'm pretty happy with transmission rebuild and converter swap. |

My Edge converter is spot on. I recommend Andre as well. |

What’s the average rpm ? Car is probably 85%drag car show cruise night etc not daily driver Rear gears undecided probably 3:90 or 4:00 Tires are 27” Yes I know I’ll need cam info and all my specs when I call them just curious where average converter rpm is |

I have always been in the "more stall" group. On the street a 3500 doesn't scare me a bit, and I have daily driven cars with as much as 4000. I have converters from Coan, PTC, Midwest, TCI, and B&M. All do what they're supposed to, but I am partial to PTC myself. If I ever need another one I would not be scared to call Andre. |

Mousetrap, I have had great luck with Edge (Andre) and Midwest converters. For your application, I would not go below 3200, more like 3600-4000 depending on cam and compression. Lou |
