Post subject:  1960 170ci timing marks?

I recently purchased a 1960 Valiant. After a few tweaks here and there I got it running pretty good. I think I have it a little too far advanced so, after driving round for a couple of days I figured I'd throw my timing light on it just to see where I was at.

No timing marks! Seems that the 170 came with a timing tab that was attached by one of the timing cover bolts. Someone forgot to reinstall the tab.

Two questions. Does anyone have one of these tabs for sale? Does anyone know if the 225 timing cover would interchange with the 170 and have the same marks in the correct orientation?

Thanks, Drue

I owned a 1960 170 that had a unique timing tab and damper. The tab was located on the timing cover at approximately the 10 o'clock position. It was only about 1/4 of an inch tall and easy to miss. The damper had a very short neck and was pressed very close to the cover. Check to see if this is your set-up. If not, I may have one of those tabs hanging around. Cheers - M

I got nothing. I've gone over and over and I can't find marks anywhere. Any help would be great. I see that you're in Seattle and I could bring the car around for a visit if you'd like. I'm down by Boeing field.
