Clutch kit {MU15251} installed two years back, 1983 D150, maybe 2500 miles on it. Would a failing pressure plate cause the adjustment
to go out of wack? I know all of these aftermarket parts are junk, but could something like this happen?

In the 83 D150 I had:
a clutch kit from Brute Force that failed in less than two years of service due to the TOB plastic housing de laminating.
a clutch kit from NAPA fail in just over two years due to improper staking if the adjustment bolts and the clutch plate levers getting out of adjustment.

so yes I would agree that stock replacement 10 inch clutch kits are junk and need to be looked over closely.

The most recent clutch kit that I put in, from AMS Automotive-RockAuto has a metal TOB housing and I welded over top of the PP adjustment bolt staking.

I t took me 3 clutches about 5000 miles apart to get a good one for my 93 318 Dakota that I converted to a 5 speed from auto.
Both times the plastic throw out bearing failed.
Perfection brand clutches certainly aren't.

The 3rd clutch was. LuK brand and it was great for 72k miles and would have been file for longer if I hadn't totalled it. I'd certainly buy another LuK brand.

Thank you, and I'm sorry for posting in the wrong section.

It is official, the pressure plate crapped out.

I just love doing things twice.

Sorry to hear that.

If you can find a local independent clutch rebuilder that could be helpful.

also if the disc is in in good shape I would venture getting a new pressure plate - or getting yours rebuilt properly.. I sent a 9" skookum Disc and PP assembly to Falcon Clutch in NY. I called and spoke to the tech on the phone and told them exactly what I wanted on my rebuild with spring pressures facing materials etc and I think I got the part back in something like 3 weeks. They also migh be able to just build one for you.

I bought a "Perfection" clutch about a year ago. Haven't installed it yet. All the other brands I bought had a smaller disc, then the pressure plate. That was the reason I chose the Perfection brand. It did come with a plastic TO bearing, When I called Perfection, and complained, and related instances of failures, they sent me a metal TO bearing no charge.

The AMS clutch kit that I installed recently had the correct 10 inch disk.

And I found them by sending an email to a guy on eBay selling a peddle assembly.

I've cut the arms off and rewelded them to a "new" hunk of pipe before, to solve that problem.
