Stupid question: Most thermostat gasket you buy these days have a self-stick coating on one side. Does it matter which side faces the block? Is there a hack to remove the sticky adhesive so you can use your favorite gasket sealer? |

I can't think why it would matter. I would probably put the sticky side on the head surface. If that is clean and flat, no gasket sealer required on that side, and just put sealer between gasket and tstat housing. Lou |

In any application, I put the "sticky" side toward the thermostat. That way it helps to keep the T-stat from slipping out of place. |
