So I’ve finally found a good shop. Word of mouth can make or break a business as well. I have a 78 225 that im going to build. That said I want to bore it a standard .030 over. So with that, can I reuse the pistons and just go with larger rings or get bigger pistons? As well im decking the block .100 and the normal cook/clean magnaflux and having it line bored. Im not building a race engine at all. Just adding a little more ump ya know. What other improvements to the block can be done, if any? This will be a slow process once the block is back considering im the only one I trust enough to do this. Thoughts ideas?? All welcome.

NO you can't bore an engine and use standard Pistons.
On the block shave you also shouldn't shoot for some number pulled out of the air. 30- over may or may not clean up the bores. But if you don't need that much you can get 20-over pistons and rings. Who made the determination of 30-over and 100 thou block shave? Is the engine apart yet?

Then I would not spend the money on line boring. It is not really needed for what you are doing.

Engine has been apart for some time. It’s factory and has never been touched. .30 is usually what I go for as that has the most parts , ie, 10 20 30 etc and so on. 100 off is what I’ve heard works well but I will inform the machinist not to let that be the case if the piston will protrude. These are all just estimates so far

Again you can't just shave the block "some random number" as you now propose with your "take .100 off" comment.
And while a crank rods/mains can definitely be machined 10-thou (0.010") on a car engine I have never seen 10-over rods or Pistons available for anything. On a single cylinder air cooled engine, yeah, all the time.... but never on a car/truck engine.
On the other hand I have never been a fan of "straight to 30-over" if a block wit clean up at 20. This has been the source of more than a few arguments between me and a couple of different machine shops about this/ "would it have cleaned up at 20?" And they came back with "we never tried, we never go less than 30"
That's why I was quite surprised when this place, when they called and asked if I had my Pistons yet so they could finish hone it, when I asked what size Pistons they said "oh, only 20 over"
I never bore an engine any more than necessary.
I don't need them now but now that I brought it up, someone on ebay right now has a set of 20 over Pistons and Rings for $75 for all. Pretty reasonable I think.
