| Post subject: | Spool brackets on early 170ci block? |
I tried this question on a Facebook group, but the discussion may have veered off on a misunderstanding. Yes or No: Do 1973-and-newer spool-type engine mounting brackets fit early (1961-ish) 170ci slant blocks? I have one set of brackets and one early block that don't want to work together because the base of the dipstick tube is (just barely) in the way. I'm trying to determine whether that's because (1) spool mounts generally don't fit early 170ci blocks or (2) my left side bracket has bolt holes just slightly off where they should be and/or this block's dipstick tube is a bit further forward than normal. |
