I used a G Force one:
Front view shows additional tow strap added.

I bolted directly to the front bumper mount.
What you propose probably works if you have the fiberglass bumper installed in place of the OE bumper.

Since I have the front grill work and bumper off the 68 Barracuda, I think I want to add a front tow hook. The front bumper is fiberglass with lightweight aluminum bumper mounts, and the front spoiler would really limit access to the k frame. I am thinking of a simple 3/8 inch thick steel L bracket that would bolt to the passenger side sub frame where the bumper mount is, with the L forward and below the bumper with an eye on it for attaching a pull cable hook. Sound reasonable? Any other ideas? |

The tow hook is made and mounted. Weighed in at 3.8 lbs I would have liked to use a strap like Greg did, but I needed it to get below the front bumper so in use the pull cable would not put pressure on the fiberglass bumper.
