What year slant sixes came with valve cover that had the 4 ribs between the pvc and oil fill tube?

Interested in one if anyone has one they don't want.

Thanks
Gene

Ribbed covers were used on the '60-'69 model engines.

The very-very-very earliest covers, made in 1959 in the first couple months of the 1960 model year, have a different bolt pattern (head's different too). Odds are against ever seeing one of these.

The rest of the '60 covers are taller at the back end than the '61-up covers—a change made so the 225 would (barely) clear the firewall-mounted heater box on a '61-'62 Lancer-Valiant.

The '60-'65 covers have the front oil cap chimney, plus a shorter rear chimney where the road-draft tube or PCV valve cup attaches. '66-'69 covers have the front oil cap chimney and instead of the rear chimney there's a 1" diameter hole that accepts a rubber grommet which holds the PCV valve.

Unless you have a reason to insist on 100 per cent originality in a pre-'66 engine, the '66-'69 cover's PCV arrangement is a whole lot easier to deal with and less messy. Its heater hose bracket mount is much sturdier, too.

Thanks for the details Dan! No need for originality here so I will look for a 66-69. I just like the ribs more than the plain stamped one i currently have.
