Okay, stupid and lazy here. Is there anyway to identify a pre 1963 drool tube head without removing valve cover for casting number ? Not sure year of my head and have read spark plug crush washers are to be left on for pre 1963 heads. |

Pull one plug and see if they are on there. I know that didn't answer your question but if it has been running with or without them you are probably fine. |

Shrugging about it and going "Whatever" is probably good enough as a get-by until the next time you have the cover off to adjust the valves. It's sloppy and slack as a permanent policy. |

Dan, looking at the threaded hole in the head, I see what looks like a round boss that is tapered to the center and a flat spot machined at the bottom around the hole. Still not sure what vintage. Stupid, lazy, sloppy and slack... things are adding up... |

Michael, good to see you posting again! How are the manifolds doing? If you can take a plug out and use a flashlight to see the plug machining. I have an early head, no alternator boss, and I will try and take some pictures to show the hole machining. Someone posted the tech note from Chrysler, if you want it, send me a message. |

The tech lit from Chrysler is here. I got your pics you emailed, but…well, I'm finding one thing about 'retirement' is that details are beginning to get a little fuzzy around the edges, so I don't trust my recollection well enough to say your pics/description are '63+ or '62-. |

Hey Stan, OK, the HyperPak exhaust manifolds. As you know, I dropped them off with Mark (AussieSpeed) in Australia a couple of years ago. I think Mark chose to go another direction and pursue the Dutra Duals. So, he was kind enough to consolidate a bunch of Hemi 6 motors/parts and they are set to arrive next week along with the HyperPak exhaust manifolds and my turbo big block exhaust manifold. All that and back to square one ! If this long festering project ever gets done, it would be nice to offer a HyperPak intake and exhaust as a set. Maybe if the economy goes to hell prices would come down and this project would be more feasible. Your thoughts ? |

Sure wish he would have gone with the HPs as well, I think there is a market. And yes the bundle is a good idea. I am getting all my parts together to have as much as a kit and documentation as possible. After all us old guys die off there will be only vapors left! I will send you a PM. Good to hear from you! |
